50!
Looking at this photo taken by a kind spectator from an apartment overlooking our practice on Saturday at English Bay, it looks like we had 50 karate-ka in attendance.
Looks like 49, you say? We’re also counting Tony Sensei, who made the grand sacrifice by donning a wet suit, instead of a white gi, so that he could stand armpit deep in the water to take photos of our training, from a different angle.
Actually, we can probably add a few more. There were some junior members present, who will join us in a year or so. Also, Mike Sempai, whose wonderful UBC club students cleared and raked a training area for us just before practice – thank you so very much for your care and dedication, wouldn’t be able to join the circle for another few minutes, during Basics.
